![]() | OPENED: 01 January 2000, PHOTO: ? This store is distinctive not only because it is right across the street from another Starbucks, the only such instance in Houston, but also because of the striking exterior design and, inside, non-standard design elements, such as the Navy-style chairs, and a fish tank embedded in the wall. And be sure to check out the wall next to the part for a photo of the dying frog adopted by the store. Article |

Lake Houston Pkwy & Kingwood Dr, Kingwood
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 December 1999 While in the far northeast Houston community of Kingwood, I felt that my photographs of the two stores should somehow reflect the forested nature of the town. When I originally shot this location, I had been in a hurry, so of course I didn't spot the angle. But even the second time around I was at a loss about how to shoot, but as I was leaving I notice the reflection, in which you can see the trees that are the predominant feature of this city's landscape. |

![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 December 1999 Houston is unusual, in that it has two roads that boast a large number of Starbucks locations. Like Westheimer, State Highway 6 / F.M. 1960 offers a choice of eight Starbucks locations. Unlike Westheimer, these locations are spread out much further than just a few miles from each other. The first, and one of two stores in Sugarland... |

TC- Kuykendahl & Louetta, Spring
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 December 1999 We'll continue on along 1960, but deviate northward at Kuykendahl to Louetta, where we'll find the second largest Starbucks location in the southern United States. Man, this place is big. Large enough, in fact, to host one of the 1998 Lilith Fair in-store performances inside the store itself, rather than out on the patio. If only it weren't haunted by the spirit of a former Taco Cabana (yech!!) |
TC-Woodlands, Spring | ||
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 December 1999 Yee-haw! We're getting far from the heart of the metroplex now, all the way up to the Woodlands (a good 37 miles from downtown Houston). But if you're traveling down from Dallas, this store makes a nice little oasis for picking up quick burst of energy (how's a doppio grab ya) before making the final push into the city (and possibly molto-stressful traffic). |

It offers plenty of seating, a conference table, and, surprise, surprise, at least two phone lines for the Net set. A craftily angled merchandise wall creates a little private corner for more intimate encounters. |
