Starbucks in Merseyside

Liverpool - Bold Street, 42, Liverpool, United Kingdom

OPENED: 2001, PHOTO: 6/23/2009

If you count the staff-only area, this store, in a charming area of Liverpool filled with neat shops, has four stories, if you count one of the small levels as a full story. The store, though listed as being on Bold Street, also has a door leading out to Wood Street. Finally, the stairs are wooden, making this all-around my favorite store in Liverpool.

Very bright, thanks to picture windows, light-colored floor, and a white brick wall, very uplifting vibe.

This second location in Liverpool One has a super sweet new modernistic design, the highlight of which is how the seating curves along a low wall across from the bar.

Licenced Stores
My Starbucking rule regarding store ownership are complicated and will be explained fully in my as-yet-unpublished book, but here are the basics. If Starbucks has a proper company in a country, such as Starbucks United States or Starbucks United Kingdom, then I only count stores operated, in whole or in part (sometimes there are partnerships) by Starbucks. In these countries, stores operated under license by other companies do not count. In most countries, however, Starbucks operates stores in a joint venture with another company (such as Tata in India) or licenses the brand to a primary (exclusive or semi-exclusive) partner, such as Alsea in Latin America and western Europe or Al-Shaya in the Middle East). In such cases I visit stores operated by those primary licensees, but not stores licensed to secondary licensees such as SSP or HMSHost. Additionally, in the U.K. and France, Starbucks franchises to a small set of companies, and I do not count those stores. Finally, note that some stores listed below might have closed down.
