This store would have an excellent view if it overlooked the lake directly instead of the railroad tracks. Click 'More' to see.

Prime 2, Zuerich, Switzerland

OPENED: Mar 2020, PHOTO: 9/25/2023

This store is unusual for a Swiss, even European, Starbucks because it sits tucked away in an sort of industrial area, in one of the Prime buildings, and they are prohibited from large signage, so it is easy to miss.

Be sure to walk up the spiral wooden stairwell to check out the rather spacious and ornately-decorated upstairs, a perfect location to watch the people on the plaza below.

Dang it, I noticed the stairs leading to a second floor but I was distracted by the free wi-fi and forgot to go up. A year later I returned to the store and went up the rustic wooden stairs to find a cozy seating area. Not large, but nevertheless comfortable.

Sihlcity, Zurich, Switzerland

Click more to see the large smokestack in front of the store. I had to wonder if, like the Mt. Washington Mill store in Baltimore, the smokestack and building were pre-existing.

Stauffacher, Zurich, Switzerland

OPENED: 11/18/2004, PHOTO: 5/9/2008

One of the few (perhaps the only?) location in Zurich with sliding doors. Another unusual feature, a large wall-sized mirror that fools you as you walked up the stairs into thinking the space is bigger.

Oh, this store is waaaaay cool. Not only is it three-story, but the second floor is actual split-level all by itself. The metal staircase zig-zagging through the back portion of the store presents a very stylistic effect!

Stores Not Visited

ATTENTION

Because of a glitch on the Starbucks website, this list is missing an unspecified number of stores that opened after July 1, 2024. Any remote stores that are not near any other stores will be missing, unless I found an article or social media post, and it is possible that other stores are mising also.

Closed Stores
Note that if the name of a store listed as closed has a link, that indicates that the store was converted to a licensed store (or possibly franchised, if in the UK or France).

Licenced Stores
My Starbucking rule regarding store ownership are complicated and will be explained fully in my as-yet-unpublished book, but here are the basics. If Starbucks has a proper company in a country, such as Starbucks United States or Starbucks United Kingdom, then I only count stores operated, in whole or in part (sometimes there are partnerships) by Starbucks. In these countries, stores operated under license by other companies do not count. In most countries, however, Starbucks operates stores in a joint venture with another company (such as Tata in India) or licenses the brand to a primary (exclusive or semi-exclusive) partner, such as Alsea in Latin America and western Europe or Al-Shaya in the Middle East). In such cases I visit stores operated by those primary licensees, but not stores licensed to secondary licensees such as SSP or HMSHost. Additionally, in the U.K. and France, Starbucks franchises to a small set of companies, and I do not count those stores. Finally, note that some stores listed below might have closed down.
